I am happy to report that I am not as old as home parties! They have been around for many years and will continue to be. Even with online parties and virtual parties... they will not be replaced any time soon. Women love to get together with other women and enjoy each other.
A lot of consultants are not comfortable talking in front of people and this makes home parties a bit harder. If you love your products? You can over come that! You will find that when you love your products, are excited about your products and honestly believe that they will help your customers life your excitement will bubble over! You will open your mouth and just go on auto pilot when you share with others.
A good way to get started? Have your own party in your own home and just invite your closest friends and family. Tell them you are having a practice show Grand Opening so you can smooth out the kinks and your nerves! This way they will gladly help you and won''t even feel pressure to buy. Most will become so involved that they will buy ~ especially if you have a mystery host drawing at the end!
When beginning your home party career you may want to limit the size of your parties to the amount of supplies you have. Guests should never have to share catalogs as that drags the party out and you do not want them to hurry through the ordering process.
One good way to have it is buy folders with pockets that you can use for every party. In each folder place a catalog, an order form, an ink pen or pencil, extra paper for them to take notes with if they want and maybe even little pocket calendars in case they want to book a show in the future. You can also find little calculators pretty cheaply if you really want to be fancy! Don't forget your business card for them to keep...
As your home party career grows you will come up with other items that work for you. It is so fun to have theme parties and many party hosts will be more likely to hold a party if they do not have to buy things like that. And this stuff can be used over and over. Just keep them in a tote and they will be set to go when you are!
Look online for party games that you think others would enjoy. Keep them short and fun. One simple game is to fill a small container (one of your products when possible) and fill it with un-popped popcorn or red hots... have your guest guess how many and the closest one would win a prize!
Another is a word game. Have them take the company name and see how many words they can make out of the letters. The list is endless! Number your folders and pick a number during the party for a little prize. Just use your imagination!
