Which Way is Where?
Do you remember what it was like the first time you were on your web site? You did not know where anything was located. This will happen (hopefully) many times a day with NEW customers and some customers that have been with you for awhile.
This is where your 'path' directions come in handy... It will save both your time but more importantly your customer's time! Here is an example:
Your customer would like to buy a 'Family Recipe Book' for her new daughter in law. Follow these directions and see how easy it is!
Please go to Once Upon A Family
Select Discover Our Products
Please Click on Food Lovers Under the Recipient Heading
Simple right? Short and to the point and so easy to take those extra steps!
Some will need more help than others. Just remember that sometimes you need more help doing things too and be patient. Even if you feel like hitting yourself in the head with a brick, be pleasant LOL!! This too shall pass. And your customer will be grateful and come back!
You will also find people that hate to shop! I cannot even imagine living a life like that. My mom hated to shop and just could not get over that I could spend hours window shopping even when I was broke! If you discover one of these customers offer to help them in the following way.
When they need a gift? Have them tell you a little about the person... like age, hobbies, employment... like sports? Things like that. Find out how much they are willing to spend and then you go to work. Select 5 or 6 products... that would make a great gift for that person. Do a couple a little lower than the amount they are willing to spend, a couple around that amount and one or two just a bit above.
Next put together an email for them to see the products OR if you are web savvy and have a page on your blog you can use? Do it that way. Make it as easy as possible for your customer to view the products you have selected for her convenience. You never know! They may end up spending more than they planned to. But then again they may spend less. But they will remember you and come back!
